Connection Instructions for Your Custom Toolie Affiliate Page

Thank you for being my Affiliate! I've set up this system to make it easy for you to earn commissions when refer your clients, colleagues, and friends to me for help with their websites and blogs.

The goal of this system is to ensure that when you promote my products to your email list, you receive credit for the referral. The custom page I've created for you contains ONLY your affiliate links on the page, so as long as you send your referrals to this page, anything they click will be flagged as YOUR referral.

Viewing Your Custom Affiliates Page

Your custom Affiliate Links page is based on your Affiliate ID, which was sent to you in email. To see your page, type in the following URL, and substitute your ID where indicated (remove the square brackets):

http://www.toolie.com/affiliates/refer.php?tdpaffid=[your ID here]

I've tried to match exactly the colors, fonts, and in most cases, the page header of the website you entered when you signed up as my affiliate. You can log into the Affiliates Promo System and change these items; you can send me email if you need assistance.

How Your Site Connects to Your Affiliate Page

To make it easy to remember your affiliate link for my products, I've set up a page that will automatically redirect to your custom Affiliate page. Here's how the system works:

  1. Right-click here to download the index.html file, and save it to your computer. I recommend putting this file with your other website files, since the "toolie" folder you create and this file will be part of your website.
  2. Open this index.html file in Notepad or your favorite HTML editor. Look for the line that contains "http://www.toolie.com/affiliates/refer.php?tdpaffid=[your ID here]".
  3. Remove the square brackets and replace the words with your affiliate ID number from the email, then save the file.
  4. Log onto your web server, and navigate to the root of the web server (usually /public_html or /htdocs).
  5. Create a new folder and name it "toolie". Be sure to make the folder name lower-case.
  6. Upload the updated index.html file to the "toolie" folder.
  7. Test the connection by opening your favorite web browser and typing:

    http://www.yourdomain.com/toolie
